Here's To You...

I'm taking a short detour from my usual pointless ramblings to commemorate my Aunt Rosie.

This morning, she passed away.

The feeling, being told over the phone was just overwhelming. I definitely was in denial. Part of me was saying, "But I just saw her!" and part of me was saying, "She has moved on."

It is strange that I feel this much pain and loss since I saw so little of her my entire life. Physically, we've probably met up every 7 years but in every other way, she had always been part of me. She never forget to send me birthday cards and scribbled notes when I was growing up. She invited me to visit her in Florida when I moved to the East Coast. She gave us a lovely wonderful wedding present when Nilly and I got married. She took care of us when we were visitors for my cousin's wedding. She watched over my parents as they stayed on as tourists.

I still have her picture. I still could hear her voice. I still could remember the scent of roses against her skin during Caroline's wedding.

She was more than my godmother. She was more than my dad's sister. She was someone who made sure I wouldn't forget.

Auntie, wherever you are, I hope for your speedy arrival in God's arms.

I HOPE YOU DANCE
Artist: Lee Ann Womack Lyrics

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance, I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

It's really bad that my trip in a couple of weeks will now include a funeral in my itinerary. I'm going to be meeting up with dad after I'm done with the wedding.

I am so sorry for your loss. What a loving tribute!

I hope your family remembers her lovingly and with much happiness over the holidays!
