A Review: V For Vendetta
Starring: Hugo Weaving, Natalie Portman
Directed by: Wachowski Brothers
Remember, remember the Fifth of November.
In futuristic Britain, totalitarian government rules. The people are scared and government likes it that way. Until V came. A masked vigilante, V, on the eve of Guy Fawkes Day, he saves Evey. Throughout the movie, Evey is convinced that this crazy masked man may actually be the face of change.
I went into the movie theater wanting this movie to actually convince me it's better than the reviews it got on magazines like People's Magazine and other gossip rags that know nothing about movies.
Thank goodness it did.
Not only did I find the movie interesting but I found the movie worth talking about.
Have you ever thought about society's apathy in regards to government and the absence of social action? Have you ever felt like you're paralyzed to act upon something you know is right and yet feel like you'd be ridiculed if you did it? Alone?
This movie pushes you to make a difference and not be paralyzed by fear or mediocrity. Each person is a catalyst for change and it's only when you've convinced yourself that what you're doing is right will you be able to justify yourself as a human being capable of wanting better than what is spoon fed to you.
Definitely, this movie does not follow the conventional comic style ala Sin City. This movie wills you to think, to immerse yourself in self-preservation and acceptance of faith in mankind.
Please, don't watch this movie if you plan to be plainly entertained. That's what Failure to Launch is there for. But if you want to challenge your brain and your conviction, give this movie a go. You will not be disappointed.

We (Chris, Tanya, Rom, Neal, Mary, and Jem) got to see this last Friday at Cinerama. What a great place to catch it in. We thought they'd be playing it on IMAX over here, but there weren't any scheduled screenings :-(
Don't you think you see shades of the 1986 People's Revolution in the movie?
